Create a litter profile

Create and manage your litters with ease

Follow the steps below to create and manage litters using the NSW Pet Registry. It makes microchipping appointments more efficient and cuts paperwork out of the equation.

1. Create a NSW Pet Registry profile

If you already have a MyServiceNSW Account, use these credentials to log in to or create a NSW Pet Registry account. To create a litter, the litter's mother must be registered under your name.

2. Enter your breeder identification number (BIN)

You will be prompted to list your breeder identification number (BIN) or recognised breeder membership number. If you don’t have a BIN, the system will generate one for you when you create your first litter.

3. Create a litter and add details

Create a litter, linked to the mother’s profile. Add litter details for all the puppies or kittens, including a name, breed, sex, coat colour, and any other identifying features.

4. Send your litter for microchipping

Book a microchipping appointment with your vet or authorised identifier, then click the ‘Send for microchipping’ button on the litters page of your NSW Pet Registry profile.

5. Confirm your email was received

When you enter your vet or authorised identifier’s email address, they will receive an email about how to record microchip numbers for each animal using their existing NSW Pet Registry account.

Handy hints for Breeders

Your part is now done. You can help your Vet by:

  • Checking they’ve received your litter details email.
  • If a vet or authorised identifier can’t find the email, they can search for it using your email, name or the litter name.
  • Knowing you can resend the litter details email from your NSW Pet Registry account.
  • Understanding that the most important information is the Litter’s Mother’s Microchip Number. It’s the key to your litter.
  • Pre-filling your litter information correctly and sending for digital microchipping gives you instant confirmation. This means you’re ready to find forever homes for your pets, straight away.

Many vets and authorised identifiers still use forms to identify animals on the NSW Pet Registry. They will microchip the litter, fill out the form and send it to council for processing. You can encourage them to use the more efficient digital system, but ultimately, the choice to use digital or paper is up to them.
